JAVA which runs on any plateform is the best programming language...but if you look at the C# it is being made of c,c++, and java, is it true that we can use C# alone without .NET and if that so then wud it be more powerful than JAVA in all terms, or is it more powerful when we use as a C#.NET than JAVA. ?plz elucidate..thanx

There's no way to pick which is the future language.
Odds are that there'll be a new language in the future.
C# cannot be used without the .Net framework.
Just as Java cannot be used without the JVM.
As for "Platform independence":
Java is not platform independent.
Any platform which java runs on must have a platform specific JVM.
While in the past there were many platforms which ran the JVM, and only 1 which ran the .Net framework, this is no longer the case.

The removal of the so-called platform independence advantage of Java over C# really evens things out.
Languages are very application specific as well...
If you're talking about "mainstream" programming for business and desktop applications, Java and C# are the primary choices.
But if you're talking about embedded systems/RTOS systems, where space requirements are at a premium, assembly language is still often used.
I know that there are very specialized languages for scientific applications which I couldn't even name at the moment, but they trump Java AND C# for their tasks.
Once you determine what your platform is, then you can decide which language is the language for YOUR future.
And since the platform independence issue is no longer an issue,
your decision now has to be based on other things.
I really can't think of any high performance games written in Java or C#, or any other language which requires a generic runtime to function.
Most that I can think of are still using C++.
Granted, the power of processors today make the performance issue less significant, but you still won't see Half-Life 3 or Doom 4 written in either of these languages.
So, you really have to consider what your application domain is first.
I think that for the foreseeable future, BOTH languages will be around, and extremely viable for a career.
To tell the truth though, the languages that will always be around are C++ and assembly.
There is even a C++.net which is the only language which can be used to write unmanaged code and managed code.

Well for the future, I thinks it's not about Java vs .net. The next best thing will be AJAX, which use Java or .net as a data seeder.

net languages such vb, c#, c++ are not platform indepented and they need .net libraries to run.
java is platform independent, it does need its own libraries to run.
look at the new netbeans project. netbeans tells something about runnig some languages such like c# and visual basic on java platform without changing any code. with this project, maybe, you will run your .net projects where ever you want which has java runtime installed
Reply:ok - there is NO SUCH THING as a best language, future language or any of that sort of thing. all languages are just tools, every one has something it does really well and something it doesn't.
the more tools you can use, the better you are at choosing the right tool for the job.
java (and i would guess .NET) are good for enterprise level applications, where you don't want to loose time on low level stuff - but try writing a low level application in java (ie cd burning program) and then you'll understand why c and c++ are needed

When using email I wish to send copies C.C to friends how do I get their address into the C.C. ?

Multi level C&C cavy cage?
I'm purchasing a C%26amp;C cage for my girls (http://www.cavycages.com/ ), and want to make2 levels... easy enough.
But I also have a dog, 2 cats, and brothers. How can I protect them with a cover?
I'd like something clean and sturdy, and easily acessible for feeding and playing.
I've considered using the cubes all across the top, but I will need many, which drives the price to a last resort situation.
The size will be 2X4 (10.5 sq. feet) ((maybe2X5... still haveto measure)) and the upper deck will be 2X2. There will be a 6" wide? ramp, with railing.
My dad is really into woodshop and that sort of thing, so any ideas are appreciated!

you can make a top out if the same c%26amp;c grids that is how i read it on a web site and just make a wall around the 2nd story some how with the grids to use your imagination lol

Reply:You can use extra grids secured with nylon zip ties to enclose the 2x2 area. For the bottom, go get some wire shelving from any home improvement store (Lowes, Home Depot, etc.). They come in 4' and 6' lengths. Lay these across the top of the bottom area and secure with zip ties. They make zip ties that are removable, so those would be best for the bottom area lids, since you'll want to be able to open them and/or take them off completely for cleaning.
Good luck with your cage. I'll bet it turns out really cool!

I'm looking for a really good C/C++ developer environment, I've herd Dev-C++ is pretty good, any other suggestions, also don't use fancy words to try and convince me, I'm a very n00bish programmer, and have only worked in Liberty BASIC and HTML, so I don't know what stuff like object oriented means. thanks, please provide some reasons and links

Martinscages and c&c cages cost way too much?
I really want 2 guinea pigs, but i need to saze money to buy them, if i get a c%26amp;c cage it will cost like 96 but martinscages cost 114, thats what ive read that two guinea pigs need this much space(its the most expensive one martins got!!! can this one hold 2 guinea pigs 30" x 18" x 16" or this one 36" x 24" x 14" cause im NOT getting the only one bigger, which is the guinea pig condo, these are the deluxe and super deluxe, if you guys say no, then wow, i would like to get the smaller one, if it will work, cause the super deluxe costs 92 for the 30 X 24
and 59 for the deluxe 30X 18, so i wopuld get the deluxe one probably, but is it big enough for 2 guinea pigs?

Cages with smaller floor space with more than one level are not appropriate. Guinea pigs are ground dwelling animals and need enough space on one level to be able to run laps and popcorn.
A 36" x 24" cage is not big enough. The 30" x 18" is far too small.
Making your own c+c cage should be much cheaper than anything you can buy in a store.
Ask around local sign shops for coroplast at a reasonable price. If you really can't find it you can use lino instead.
Then find grids at places like home depot, or you can use shelving panels.
I have a c+c and highly recommend them. They are one of the few cages big enoug, and are cheap and easy to build. Good luck!

If you plan on going to the universities listed above, you may need to take the SATs. They do require those on your transcripts for math and english placement courses.

Reply:Some universities require that you take the SATs, whether or not you're transferring. You can find each University's requirements at www.collegeboard.com. Most likely, you'll need to take them.

Then have the an if-then statement that checks the number against the formula for determining if a number is prime (I dont remember if off the top of my head but its something like a number thats only divisable by itself). No need to make it more complicated than it needs to be.

A small c, c++ problem?
i have a string which has a pattern: "EmpId: %26lt;number%26gt;". I want to extract the number in an integer.
I tried sscanf(str, "%sEmpId: %d%s", front, %26amp;emp_id, rest);

Granted C/C++ isn't used all that much for internet related tasks these days it is still a useful skill to have.

I've inherited a large C# program that I must maintain. It does not terminate cleanly and leaves it's process running. Termination of the process requires a ctl-alt-del to the task manager, and then a manual delete. How do I gracefully terminate this program?

So maybe the job offers can give you a good recommendation.

If you're interested in web development then I'd suggest you to go with various web service platforms - like .NET, Sun's ONE etc. If you are more adaptive to the server side programming ,esp on UNIX or Linux then you can go with PHP. On Microsoft ASP.NET and VB.NET, or C# is a must.
Since MS platform is popular mostly on the corporate environment, as you might have noticed with your background on desktop+network support, you might want to go with .NET to be on the safe side. A better way would be to get a MCSE certification just proving the companies that you're still on the roll. (Especially due to the changing trend in technology)

In 1997 I was outsourced by the company I worked for, and I decided to go into business for myself. You would have to put a wire mesh around it because the rat would be able to squeeze through the cube space, you would need to make it multi-level (it would lose its sturdiness then), and you would need to find a way to put the tray outside of the wires because they will chew it.
Instead, buy a cage that is meant for rats. Martin's makes wonderful cages that are recommended and loved by rat owners everywhere due to their stability, spaciousness, easiness to clean, and just overall perfect design. Make sure to order powder-coated as galvanized wires will absorb the smell and you will never get it out. Their cages are great quality for an affordable price. The pictures on the site don't look like the cage is very large, but believe me, they're HUGE! The Ruud cage stands 5 feet tall. I suggest getting the Rat Skyscraper if you can afford it, or the R-680 would be suitable for 2 rats as well.

You have the basic idea, but how are you going to handle more than one grade and more than one student? What you have is the heart of the program, but you need some more code to manage that algorithm better.

Can anyone recommend C and C++ compilers that may be used to compile binaries for commercial (non-GNU) distribution? I'm primarily familiar with GCC and G++, but given that these are both GNU products, I'm pretty sure using them to compile commercial software (for which the source is not publicly available) would be prohibited?

Now I have the vc express 2008, and to start a simple program there seems to be a lot of standard code that never use to be there.
Do I need all of this? I am using an older book on C that doesn't use all of this new code and libraries.
Did C advance that much in 8 years? or
Is this .net? I didn't see anything saying that this version is .net, but I could be wrong.

a,b,c are the roots of the equation. That means putting in a, b, or c as x with make the equation = 0. So
a^3 + p*a^2 + q*a + r = 0
b^3 + p*b^2 + q*a + r = 0
c^3 + p*c^2 + q*c + r = 0
You can use each equation to find the values of each root, each root squared and each root cubed.
For example:
a^3 = -p*a^2 - q*a - r
b^3 = -p*b^2 - q*b - r
c^3 = -p*c^2 - q*c - r
then a^3 + b^3 + c^3 = -p*a^2 - q*a - r - p*b^2 - q*b - r - p*c^2 - q*c - r
You can do the same for a^2, a ,b^2, b, c^2 and c.

C#, C++, Fortran...?
I'm a mechanical engineer with very very minimal programming experience, but I am looking into learning to program.
I need to write a few programs to solve complex mathematical equations but am a little confused at which one to use. I went to microsoft.com to take a look at their 'express' programs to download, but am uncertain which one to pick (if any of them).
Fortran has been suggested, but Fortran is so old. Is there anything other programs that might be more suitable with handling complex equations. I would prefer something with a tutorial attached.

Most of the traditional engineers I know either use Matlab or Fortran for programming. I think this is mainly because they can both do operations on vectors of numbers rather than having to write loops, which for some reason scares them. Matlab will probably be the fastest way to write your programs, and there are probably lots of tutorials available.
Scientists and physicists generally use Fortran, and they don't use it correctly, but it still works.
If you want a marketable skill, learn C and C++ rather than C#, because you can move to non-Microsoft systems pretty easily.

Go to your \Command %26amp; Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars\Profiles\Profile Name" directory

C & c generals error, how to solve the serial port problem?
I have set up a local network without servers. The network connection is going through a 3 com switch. I have installed the c %26amp; c generals on to the network PC ( 2 pc) but still cannont play network with each other. I've encounter serial port being used.
Is there any way I can play through network without the serial port error. My networks come with a IP address which I can ping to each other.

Below i have included two links, one is the cube unit from B%26amp;Q and item number and the other is to show you the designs of cages you can make (just incase you have not already been on the site).
